SUMMARY:VHCF10 – 10th International Conference on Very High Cycle Fatigue
DESCRIPTION:

When a billion cycles change the ru
les

From 14 to 16 April 2027\, the international Very High Cycle Fa
tigue community returns to Paris—where this conference series began in 1
998—for VHCF10. Hosted at the historic Arts et Métiers campus and co-or
ganised with the Fatigue Commission of SF2M as part of its 16th Internatio
nal Spring Meeting\, the conference connects fundamental fatigue science w
ith the reliability challenges of components expected to survive hundreds
of millions or even billions of cycles.

VHCF10 brings together resea
rchers\, engineers and industrial specialists from around the world. The p
rogramme spans failure mechanisms beyond 10⁸ cycles\, advanced testing a
nd characterisation\, modelling\, statistical design and applications acro
ss aerospace\, automotive\, energy\, transport\, microelectronics and medi
cal devices.

Scientific focus and mini-symposia

Alongside th
e core themes of mechanisms\, experimental methods\, modelling and structu
ral applications\, seven focused mini-symposia open the discussion to emer
ging scientific and industrial questions:

Grain refinement effe
cts during high and very high cycle fatigue loading

Industrial cas
e studies in aerospace\, automotive\, energy\, transport\, microelectronic
s and medical devices

Very high cycle fatigue of additively manufa
ctured materials

Advanced numerical simulation for very large numb
ers of loading cycles

Very high cycle fatigue of polymer composite
s

Developments in ultrasonic fatigue testing

Statistical m
odelling\, defects and size effects in very high cycle fatigue

<h
3>Plenary perspectives

Five internationally recognised experts will
connect frontier research with practical reliability—from high-temperat
ure materials and internal crack growth to alloy design\, defect statistic
s and data-driven prediction:

Anja Weidner – VHCF at high tem
peratures\, from 42CrMo4 steel to nickel-based superalloys

Takashi
Nakamura – synchrotron X-ray CT of naturally initiated internal fatigue
 cracks

Tresa M. Pollock – designing fatigue-resistant structura
l materials

Davide Paolino – size effects\, defects and statisti
cal modelling in VHCF

Guian Qian – microstructure generation and
fatigue-life prediction for additively manufactured alloys

I
mportant dates

21 September 2026: abstract submission
deadline

6 November 2026: notification of abstrac
t acceptance

15 January 2027: early-bird registra
tion deadline

15 February 2027: extended abstract
